Background
ProEdge is PwC’s first enterprise level commercial L&D platform focused on workforce transformation. In the early stages the focus was on development and shipping core functionality to support a growing list of clients.
When I joined the team, there were gaps between the existing product experience and user expectations of core functionality, as well as the new, custom branding characterized by an inspiring, friendly, and helpful tone.
Role
My job was to help stand up and deliver the product redesign in alignment with the brand vision as quickly as possible. As our team grew, I led the learner experience design strategy and delivery, onboarded new designers and provided direction for a design system spanning across the ProEdge Learn and Plan (admin experience) platforms.
Approach
The existing core functionality was quite limited. Managed content areas, curated through a separate admin layer based on one’s role, remained fairly static and provided little context for the learner. Users could bookmark content they were interested in, but finding relevant content beyond what was assigned or finding content quickly was a challenge.
The redesign was a complete overhaul involving new information architecture and features, launched and enhanced in multiple phases. Starting with a skill-based experience that allowed users to explore learning based on their interests and usage history, and following with search functionality, we moved on to providing a more personalized homepage, profile, and assigned learning space to allow quick access to key content and ability to track progress.

Outcome
Through collaborative teamwork our team was able to move quickly validating and implementing core functionality in an easy to use, accessible, visually elevated interface with a consistent design language, allowing us to focus on providing additional value for our core users with new features and enhancements.
We were able to use the already implemented screens completed in Adobe Xd to develop a design system in Figma and help ensure a smooth transition to the new tool without disrupting production.
My performance on this project led to my promotion to UX Manager (in 2022). Here are a few testimonials:
“Joanna is exceptional and we're fortunate to have her on ProEdge. Like many on the team, she gives 110%, but what stands out with Jo is that she's a fast and strong problem solver, someone who expects a lot from herself, and an unflappable team player.”

"Joanna drove a lot of impactful features for our user-facing Learn. She prototypes fast, works with UXR to gather feedback and iterates well. She also tries to understand tech impact and helps make the right decisions to move forward. She has strong relationships across the team.
Many high used features in ProEdge have been designed by Joanna, driving more engagement and providing a great user experience. She has also coached and managed junior staff. Joanna's impact on LEARN is profound."
